Jhon Duran is back in the headlines not because he has scored his first goal for Al Nassr or committed a crime. The 21-year-old is currently dominating headlines because of his decision to live in Bahrain instead of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where Al Nassr is based.
A Saudi marital law has forced the former Aston Villa striker to move out of the city to Bahrain which is about 500km away from Riyadh by flight.
The law frowns against unmarried couples living together in the country. Landlords in the Islamic country requests for marriage certificates before renting out their property.
Consequently, Jhon Duran who has his girlfriend with him, made a decision to live in Bahrain instead. The striker would have to take a flight daily to train with Al Nassr and on matchdays.
Jhon Duran joined Al Nassr from Aston Villa for £65 million during the Winter transfer window after pulling out of the deal to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Colombian striker earns £325,000 pounds weekly and a private jet flight from Bahrain to Riyadh cost about $25,000 dollars depending on the type of jet.
A road trip which is an unlikely option for the striker is about five hours while a flight is roughly over an hour.
Cristiano Ronaldo, on the flip side lives with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and their kids in Riyadh.
