Napoli extended their lead at the top of Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The win was a welcome relief after a week dominated by headlines surrounding their star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. It was also their 12th clean sheet of the season, the highest tally in Europe’s top five leagues.
Giorgio Di Lorenzo’s fortuitous strike in the fifth minute gave Napoli the lead, with the ball ricocheting off the post and Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò.
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa sealed the win with a powerful strike from outside the area in the 60th minute.
Verona struggled to create chances, with Casper Tengstedt’s header their closest effort before halftime.
Napoli’s victory takes them four points clear at the top, while Verona remain just one point above the relegation zone.
