Super Eagles of Nigeria move up to 36th in latest FIFA Rankings

According to the October FIFA rankings, the Nigerian Super Eagles have risen three spots to 36th place in the world.

Nigeria scored 1503.29 points during the time under evaluation, according to the ranking table posted on the World Football Governing Body’s website on Thursday.

On October 11, at Uyo, the senior men’s national team defeated their Libyan opponents by a single goal in a matchday four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Additionally, the team’s continental standing improved as a result of the shift, moving up from sixth place in September to fourth place behind Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt.

The last international window featured 79 Nations League games, 32 FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, 47 CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers, and 17 friendlies.

The top three teams feature Argentina at the top, their gap over France in second place, and Spain in third place.

England is in fourth place, Brazil is in fifth place, and Belgium is in sixth place.

There is still no sign of Victor Osimhen as 20 Super Eagles of Nigeria players train for 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic.

The only climbers in the top 10 are Portugal (7th, up 1) and Italy (9th, up 1), followed by the Netherlands (8th, down 1) and Colombia (10th, down 1), with Germany (11th, up 2) still vying for a spot.

Cameroon (49th, up 4) has made a comeback to the top 50, while other notable moves have come from Algeria (37th, up 4), Peru (38th, up 5), and Greece (42nd, up 6).

Equatorial Guinea (ranked 88th, up 6) and Zimbabwe (ranked 117th, up 7) are two other African teams that have advanced significantly in the rankings.

Botswana (140th, up 7) and the Gambia (128th, up 7) had the largest total spike in points gained (up 38.30 points).
