Chibuike Nwaiwu has reacted to speculations on him being on the verge of a Super Eagles call-up following his impressive start to life at Trabzonspor in the Turkish top division.
Nwaiwu said he is aware he is being monitored ahead of a possible invitation, but revealed that he will continue to work hard to improve regardless of the outcome.
“I believe in myself and in God. I know they are watching me regarding the national team. Whether they invite me or not is up to them, but I will continue to work to reach the top,” he said, as quoted by Yenisafak.
“But even if they don’t invite me, I will continue to fight and work hard to reach the top.“
“Every player dreams of winning trophies with their country, and I believe Trabzonspor will provide me with the platform to represent my country at the highest level.”
Nwaiwu had an impressive outing, scoring two goals in the 3-1 win over Fatih Karagümrük in a Turkish Super Lig match.
However, the 22-year-old former Heratland and Enyimba defender came off injured, casting doubt on a probable call-up for this month’s international friendly matches against Jordan and Iran.
Test results show internal bleeding and swelling in Nwaiwu’s left thigh’s inner muscle, and recovery efforts have begun.
