In a pivotal match at the top of the standings, Galatasaray defeated Besiktas 2-1 thanks to a stunning goal by Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen.
In the season’s first Istanbul derby, Osimhen scored the game-winning goal to guarantee his team took all three points.
Davinson Sanchez gave the Turkish league leaders the lead early in the match at Rams Park.
Osimhen, who recently joined Galatasaray, extended the lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute with his first goal of the derby.
Ernest Muci scored a consolation goal in the 94th minute as Besiktas rallied late.
Galatasaray managed to hold on to get the win and get bragging rights in the derby.
In the end, Osimhen’s goal proved to be the difference, securing the spot for Galatasaray at the top of the standings.
