The Boston Celtics handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their first loss of the season in a thrilling 120-117 victory.

Cleveland’s 15-game winning streak, the longest season-opening run in franchise history, came to an end, with the defending champs refusing to be put down.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with a standout performance, posting 33 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. Al Horford chipped in with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Derrick White added 19 points.

Boston’s sharp shooting from beyond the arc proved decisive, as they connected on 22 of 41 three-point attempts.

The Cavaliers, seeking to become the second team in NBA history to start 16-0, were paced by Donovan Mitchell’s 35 points and eight rebounds. Evan Mobley contributed 22 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

Boston appeared to have the game in hand after White’s three-pointer with 4:23 remaining gave them an eight-point cushion.
