In a display of football and philanthropy, Team KSI x AboFlah emerged victorious with a 6-5 win over Team Chunkz x IShowSpeed at the second annual “Match for Hope” charity event.
Held on February 14, 2025, at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, the event successfully raised over $10.7 million (approximately QR39 million) for the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, dedicated to supporting out-of-school children worldwide.
The match featured an eclectic mix of football legends and internet personalities. Arsène Wenger, the esteemed former Arsenal manager, led Team KSI x AboFlah, which boasted talents like Thierry Henry, Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Del Piero, and YouTube sensation KSI.
Opposing them, Team Chunkz x IShowSpeed was managed by U.S. men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino and included stars such as Andrés Iniesta, David Silva, and popular streamer IShowSpeed.
The game commenced with unexpected drama as KSI inadvertently scored an own goal within the first eight minutes, attempting to intercept a cross from IShowSpeed. This early setback, however, did not deter his team.
The match evolved into a high-scoring affair, with both sides showcasing offensive prowess. Notably, EmanSV2 of Team Chunkz x IShowSpeed delivered an impressive performance, netting a hat-trick and earning the Man of the Match accolade.
The climax arrived in the 89th minute when streamer Adam Waheed secured the decisive goal for Team KSI x AboFlah with a left-footed strike. This late goal sealed the 6-5 victory, prompting jubilant celebrations from the team and their supporters.
The “Match for Hope” surpasses entertainment, serving as a significant fundraising initiative. The substantial amount raised will aid EAA’s mission to provide educational opportunities to marginalized children globally. The event underscores the powerful synergy between sports and social media in mobilizing resources for charitable causes.
Reflecting on the event, KSI expressed his elation: “I’m buzzing, 6-5, you know, last-minute winner! They came back strong in the second half, but bro, that last-minute goal from Adam—he doesn’t even play football! He calls it soccer! He’s right-footed! It feels so good. Fantastic. What a day, I’m so, so happy right now.”
The success of this year’s match builds upon the inaugural event, which raised over $8.8 million, benefiting more than 70,000 individuals. The 2025 edition not only surpassed previous fundraising totals but also delivered memorable moments that will resonate with fans and participants alike.
