President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons after their scintillating 3–2 victory over host nation Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final — a win that secured a record‑extending 10th continental title for the team.
In a poignant X (formerly Twitter) message, Tinubu applauded the team’s resilience and fighting spirit:“They chose to accept this mission. They understood the assignment.”
“Our Superior Super Falcons delivered in true Nigerian fashion. Never say Never. They went. They saw. They have conquered again!”
“10‑time champions of Africa. #MissionX: COMPLETE!”

Morocco took an early lead through goals by Ghizlane Chebbak in the 12th minute and Sanaâ Mssoudy in the 24th. It looked like the host side would lift their first WAFCON trophy.
However, Nigeria mounted an extraordinary second‑half rally: goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Ijamilusi, and Joe Echegini turned the tide and completed a memorable comeback.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also praised the Super Falcons, describing their achievement as a testament to resilience and consistency.
She wrote:“I celebrate you, our beautiful and lovely Super Falcons … Your resounding 3‑2 victory is indeed remarkable and commendable … You have written your names in gold and inspired millions across the continent.”
With the 2025 WAFCON title, the Super Falcons further solidify their status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history, now boasting ten championships.
