Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare is likely to depart Genk this summer, with the club’s sporting director, Dimitri De Condé, indicating as much in a recent interview.
Speaking to Het Belang Van Limburg, De Condé stated, “I estimate the chance of a possible departure of our top scorer at 99%.
“There is no concrete offer on the table yet, but there is a huge demand from brokers who want to act as an intermediary.
“From experience, I say he’s leaving. Arokodare is very well in the market and is also ready to take the next step.”
De Condé expressed confidence in Genk’s preparedness, highlighting Oh Hyeon-gyu as a ready replacement and praising 18-year-old Robin Mirisola from Jong Genk as a promising third option.
“With Oh Hyeon-gyu, there is a lot of confidence. With him, we already have his successor in the house. We also have Robin Mirisola of Jong Genk as the third striker. He is only 18 and has a very nice profile. He’s done a lot of training and has a positive impression on Coach Fink.”
Arokodare, who shared the Belgian Pro League top scorer title with 21 goals, played a key role for Genk, though they fell short of the championship against Union Saint-Gilloise.
With reported interest from the Premier League, LaLiga, and the Bundesliga, Arokodare’s next destination is something to keep a close watch on.
