The summer 2025 transfer window has spotlighted the centre-forward position, with elite European clubs scrambling to secure top-tier strikers.
The demand for clinical finishers is high, but only a select few stand out as the market’s hottest talents. Arsenal, for instance, have been vocal about their need for a prolific No. 9, with names like Alexander Isak, Benjamin Šeško, and Viktor Gyökeres linked to the Gunners. Recent reports indicate Arsenal have a deal in principle with Sporting CP for Gyökeres, though it’s not finalized.
Liverpool, reeling from the tragic loss of Diogo Jota and planning to move on Darwin Núñez, are also in the hunt for a new striker. Here are the top five strikers dominating the 2025 transfer market.

Jonathan David

After an impressive stint at Lille, Jonathan David secured a big-money move to Juventus in July 2025. The Canadian striker’s intelligent movement and clinical finishing, with 87 goals in 174 Ligue 1 appearances, made him a prime target. His versatility to drift across attacking roles and find space in tight areas has cemented his reputation as one of Europe’s most adaptable forwards. David’s seamless integration into various tactical systems makes him a valuable asset for Juventus.

Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa’s star striker Ollie Watkins is one of the Premier League’s hottest English forwards. Manchester United and other top clubs have shown interest, with Arsenal nearly signing him in the last winter window, only for Villa to reject their bid. Watkins’ pace, work rate, and goal-scoring prowess make him a complete modern forward, capable of leading the line for any elite club.

Hugo Ekitike

France’s Hugo Ekitiké has emerged as a breakout star at Eintracht Frankfurt, drawing attention from Newcastle United and Liverpool. Frankfurt rejected an €80 million bid, with expectations of a fee exceeding €100 million. At 23, Ekitiké’s speed, versatility, and clinical finishing inside the box make him a perfect fit for the modern game. His physical presence and athleticism have drawn top European clubs to him.

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen remains one of Europe’s hottest strikers after a stellar loan spell at Galatasaray. Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and PSG are tracking the Nigerian, with Al Hilal reportedly ready to trigger his €78 million release clause. Osimhen’s strength, pace, and lethal finishing, combined with his ability to create shots from nothing, make him a standout. Despite interest, reports suggest he may stay permanently with Galatasaray.

Viktor Gyökeres

Sweden’s Viktor Gyökeres is a prime target for Arsenal, who have held talks and agreed in principle with Sporting CP. With 52 goal involvements last season, Gyökeres’s work rate, finishing, and tactical intelligence stand out. His ability to drift to the flanks and make diagonal runs, paired with his power and speed, makes him a versatile forward capable of thriving under pressure in the Premier League.
