Super Eagles invitee for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Akor Adams, could not hide his delight after he found the net in Sevilla’s memorable 4-1 victory over FC Barcelona.
He described the occasion as a ‘historic moment’ for both himself and the team.
Adams is finally settling pretty well after a slow start to his Sevilla career, with two goals in his last two matches.
The former Montpellier striker scored his first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán as he slotted home from his last two outings in the Spanish top-flight after coming off the bench. m close range after Chidera Ejuke put the ball on a plate for him.
Akor Adams had previously played in eight straight games before he netted his first goal in Sevilla colours.
While reflecting on his goal and Sevilla’s famous win over Barcelona, Adams said, “This gives a lot of credit to the team. We’ve been in our own bubble, doing what we’ve worked on, and all that effort has paid off.
“It’s a historic moment. We have to focus on the positives and leave everything else aside.”
On his first goal at the Ramon Sánchez-Pizjuán, Adams said: “Total madness. I want to give recognition to Isaac Romero. As for me, my first task was to defend and then push forward. I’m very happy to score my first goal at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.”
Akor Adams will look forward to scoring more goals for Sevilla when club football resumes in two weeks.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old striker returns to the national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic later this week.
