Tottenham Hotspur advanced to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park, clinching a 2-1 aggregate win.
The decisive moment came in the 42nd minute when Dominik Solanke converted a penalty awarded after James Maddison was brought down by Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua Santos.
The decision, confirmed by VAR, silenced the home crowd and gave Spurs the crucial away goal they needed.
Despite missing star forward Heung-min Son, Tottenham displayed resilience and tactical discipline. The defensive trio of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario stood firm against Frankfurt’s relentless second-half pressure.
Vicario’s key saves preserved the lead, while Frankfurt’s Kristensen squandered a late opportunity to equalize.
The victory not only keeps Tottenham’s European ambitions alive but also offers a potential route to Champions League qualification amidst a challenging domestic season.
Tottenham will face either Bodo/Glimt or Lazio in the semi-finals, with the first leg scheduled for next month. The final will be held at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao.
