Tottenham vs Man Utd: 3 things learnt as Amorim’s men snatch late point

Ifeanyi by Ifeanyi

Manchester United needed a 95th-minute goal to secure a point in a tense 2-2 draw with Tottenham.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, and second-half strikes from Mathys Tel and Richarlison had Tottenham on their way to a crucial win. However, United defender Mathijs De Ligt scored a late equaliser.

While this draw extended the Red Devils’ unbeaten run to 5 games, both sides will rue the chance to move higher up the standings.

Here are three things learnt.

1. Manchester United remain defensively vulnerable

United’s defense remains a critical weakness. Conceding two goals against Spurs follows the recent pattern of shipping two goals against Nottingham Forest last time out.

This lack of stability means the team consistently relies on their attack to bail out a fragile backline, a trend manager Rúben Amorim must urgently address.

2. Tottenham still searching for first home win of the season

This draw was a particularly frustrating outcome for Spurs. Despite their excellent form and reliance on away victories to keep them competitive, they are still searching for their first home league win of the season.

Their failure to hold onto a lead at Old Trafford underscores the difficulty they are having turning domestic dominance into maximum points in front of their own supporters.

3. Sesko goal struggles continue

The goal drought continues for young striker Benjamin Šeško. Signed for a large fee from Leipzig, the forward’s difficulties were evident as he failed to convert key chances.

His lack of productivity is a major concern, as he has managed just 2 goals in 11 league appearances for the club, adding intense pressure on the player to justify his price tag.
