Chrisantus Uche opened the scoring as Getafe secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Girona to move into mid-table safety.
Getafe took an early lead through Christantus Uche, who finished clinically into the bottom-left corner after a costly slip by Ladislav Krejčí.
Girona responded with intent, and they eventually leveled just before the hour mark, as Yangel Herrera directed a header into the far right corner from Viktor Tsygankov’s corner kick.

However, Getafe regained the lead instantly after José Bordalás introduced Borja Mayoral, who buried a rebound from close range with just his second touch.
Girona’s woes deepened as Herrera saw red after a VAR review for a cynical challenge on Ramon Terrats.
