United celebrate Bruno Fernandes’ 100-goal milestone with special presentation

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has been formally recognised by the club after reaching 100 goals in all competitions.

The Portugal international hit the landmark with his opener in the 2–1 victory over Chelsea last weekend, becoming only the 23rd player in United’s history to achieve the feat.

At Carrington on Wednesday, United’s director of football Jason Wilcox presented Fernandes with framed artwork to commemorate the achievement in front of team-mates and staff. In light-hearted fashion, Wilcox quipped that the midfielder had also asked for a separate award for his many assists.

Fernandes, visibly moved by the gesture, thanked colleagues and supporters for their role in his success. “I’m very happy and proud to achieve this big number,” he said. “I couldn’t have done it without the team and the staff, and now the focus is on winning more for this club.”

Since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, the 30-year-old has established himself as United’s creative heartbeat and a consistent goalscorer. His tally includes 64 Premier League goals, with the rest spread across European and domestic cup competitions.

The presentation underscored Fernandes’ status as one of United’s most influential modern players, with manager Rúben Amorim describing him as “really important” to the squad’s ambitions this season.
