Venezia has reportedly agreed a deal to sign Nigerian striker Akor Adams from Sevilla. The transfer smashes Venezia’s previous club transfer record, more than doubling the €6 million they paid Sporting Kansas City for Gianluca Busio in 2021. It also comes in above Sevilla’s public €15 million valuation, reflecting how far the two sides moved from Venezia’s opening bid of under €10 million in late June.
Adams is set to put pen to paper on a deal that ties him to Venezia through 2030, based on the personal terms he had already agreed with the club before the transfer fee was finalized. He had reportedly given the move his blessing weeks ago, even as he publicly downplayed exit talk and continued training away from the Sevilla first team during pre-season.
The Nigerian international arrived at Sevilla from Montpellier in January 2025 for a reported €5.5 million fee. After a slow start hampered by injuries, he became the club’s leading La Liga scorer last season with 10 goals and 3 assists in 32 appearances, a run of form that included match-winning performances against Rayo Vallecano and Barcelona.
For Sevilla, the sale provides crucial funds as the club works to meet La Liga’s financial fair play regulations, having already lost several squad players this summer, including Nianzou to Lille and Sánchez as a free agent. The money raised is expected to help unlock further business in the transfer market for head coach Luis García Plaza.
For Venezia, the deal represents a statement of intent as they return to Serie A following promotion, backed by fresh investor capital that has given the club real spending power for the first time in years. Adams becomes their marquee summer signing as they prepare for life back in Serie A.
