Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
Despite having a contract with Leverkusen until 2029, Boniface is reportedly open to leaving if the right offer comes along.
In the January transfer window, Saudi club Al Nassr tabled a €70m bid for the Nigerian international but after agreeing the wage package and contract structure, the club ultimately decided to pursue Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran instead.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have already initiated talks with Boniface’s representatives.
The 24-year-old Super Eagles forward has impressed since joining Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, scoring 31 goals and providing 11 assists in 52 games.
Newcastle’s interest in Boniface is also motivated by the high demand for their star striker Alexander Isak. Despite valuing Isak at a reported £150 million, the Magpies are aware that they may need to replace him or bring in another striker to complement him.
Boniface’s profile fits the bill, and Newcastle are exploring the possibility of signing him.
