‘We were the better team’ – Amorim reacts to Tottenham defeat

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reflected on his team’s 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup quarter-final, acknowledging that Spurs were more clinical despite United being the better team overall.

Amorim pointed to a “disconnect” early in the second half as a crucial moment in the game, which allowed Tottenham to take a 3-0 lead.

However, United staged a spirited comeback in the second half, ultimately falling just short.

“We showed that we can fight in the past games also when we were losing in difficult moments.

We disconnected at the beginning of the second half, it was a tough moment for us, like 10 minutes. And then we return, I think we did a great job,” Amorim said.

“I think if you look at all the game, I think we were the best team but they [Spurs] were more clinical.

“Yes, we lost the game but the fight from the lads was really important for me.”

Amorim will hope his men can bounce back from this when they face Bournemouth at home this weekend.
