Xabi Alonso is the new coach of Real Madrid as Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti set to bid farewell to Los Merengues

Football transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano announced the development on his X page on Monday morning with his trademark seal: “Here we go!”

The Spanish manager takes over from Ancelotti after a disappointing season that will see Real Madrid go trophyless.

Xabi Alonso signs three-year deal as Real Madrid manager

According to Romano, Xabi Alonso will sign a three-year deal as head coach of the 15-time European champions until 2028.

He also added that Xabi Alonso’s backroom staff is sorted, and the 43-year-old manager will assume office soon to prepare the team for the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.

Alonso leaves Bayer Leverkusen on a high after leading them to their first-ever Bundesliga title last season without losing a match.

He also won the German Super Cup, DFB Pokal but lost in the final of the Europa League to Ademola Lookman’s hat trick as Atalanta lifted their first-ever European title.

The Spanish manager bid farewell to Bayer Leverkusen fans on Sunday in their final home game as they suffered a 4-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Nevertheless, Bayer Leverkusen will play in the Champions League next season after sealing a second-place finish behind new Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich..
