Yaya Toure completes UEFA Pro License course

Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has received his UEFA Pro license certification as look set to start his career as a football coach

Yaya Toure has completed his UEFA Pro License course giving him the opportunity to become the head coach of a football team.

The former Manchester City and Cote D’Ivoire midfielder shared a tweet and a picture of him posing with his certificate on his official X page on Wednesday.

Toure says he has learnt a lot while taking the course and now feels excited about what he can achieve as he begins his coaching career.

“Delighted to share that I’ve now got my UEFA Pro License! I have learned a lot while gaining the coaching qualification and now feel even more excited about what I can achieve as a coach. Thank you to the tutors at The FA, as well as my friends & family who have supported me.”

Yaya Touré began his coaching journey on 10 February 2021 as an assistant manager at Ukrainian Premier League club Olimpik Donetsk, leaving after four months.

He then joined Russian Premier League side Akhmat Grozny as an assistant coach on 14 June 2021, departing the role on 13 December 2021. Following a period of part-time coaching, he became an under-16 coach at Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in August 2022.

In June 2023, he transitioned to Belgian club Standard Liège as an assistant manager. On 3 November 2023, Touré was appointed assistant coach of the Saudi Arabia national team under Roberto Mancini.

Yaya Toure played under a handful of coaches including Herve Renard, Pep Guardiola, Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini among others during his active days.

The 41-year-old will look to infuse what he has learnt from his previous managers with his personal philosophy of the game as looks forward to a successful coaching career.
