3 Changes Ruben Amorim Should Make at Manchester United

The confirmation of Ruben Amorim as the manager of Manchester United comes as no surprise after many rumours and links about his appointment. The Portuguese takes over from Erik Ten Hag and will need to make important changes at the club.

For many, Amorim has a lot of work to do, with United currently languishing in the second half of the table, and having a big game against Chelsea to come this weekend. To succeed, however, Amorim might have to shake things up to better the teams result.

First, he must try to find a balance in attack. Before the Carabao Cup match against Leicester City, Manchester United had failed to score more than two goals in most of their matches – down to a lack of fluidity in attack. Amorim must find a way to utilize the creativity of Fernandes, as well as the directness of Garnacho and Rashford on the flanks. For United to win, they need to score goals when it matters.

Secondly, Amorim must consider replacing Luke Shaw as Manchester United’s left back. The English international has not started any game this season, and missed a part of last season due to injury. For Amorim to ensure he has a team ready to play, it is crucial for the Portuguese to have players fit and available for him to call on when need be.

Lastly, Amorim must ensure to endear himself to the fans. To do this, he needs to learn about the culture of Manchester United as well as playing “the United way” which is attacking football. This was one of the reasons fans were upset with Ten Hag, and Amorim must correct the errors made.
