3 reasons Osimhen will struggle at Manchester United

Victor Osimhen remains one of the hottest strikers on the planet, and he has continued his impressive goalscoring form since leaving Napoli on loan.

There is no doubt the 26-year-old Nigerian striker, who has already scored 15 goals for Galatasaray this season,  will be in high demand this summer, with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all linked.

United boss Ruben Amorim reportedly admires the former Lille man but here are three reasons why Manchester United might be a bad move.

Big ambitions

Manchester United are nowhere near the level they deserve to be and are unlikely to make significant progress over the next 1-2 years. Osimhen deserves to play at the highest level competing for the biggest trophies.

A move to Manchester United could see him struggle in mid-table, with the lack of balance and consistency, potentially hampering his career progression.

Tactical issues

Amorim’s 3-4-3 often leaves his strikers isolated, as evidenced by the struggles of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund. Both men have averaged under 1 shot per game and struggled to make an impact this season.

Osimhen is a much better striker than the pair but will struggle in a system that leaves him isolated with little help, similar to the system employed by former Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro at AFCON 2023.

Ballon d’Or dreams

Osimhen is good enough to fancy his chances of aiming for a Ballon d’Or. His 8th place finish in 2023 shows he can achieve the unthinkable, or at the very least a podium finish.

However, there are better places to win the award than Manchester United. The likes of PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid, or even Chelsea, alongside Cole Palmer, could boost his chances.
