Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reacted to Erling Haaland’s new contract.
The Norwegian striker has committed to a nine-and-a-half-year deal, tying him to the Premier League champions until 2034.
When asked about the length of the contract, Guardiola explained: ”
The club decided it. Erling wouldn’t have signed it if he didn’t imagine being here in 10 years. Both the club and Erling decided it.”
Guardiola was also questioned about whether the long-term deal was intended to protect Haaland’s value. He responded:
“What happens in this kind of situation, he feels it. He feels that it is the right move for his career and of course, he is a special player. The club made a huge effort to have him and he decided on it.”
