Stay Humble! Arsenal disgrace Manchester City to keep title hopes alive

Arsenal thoroughly embarrassed Manchester City at the Emirates, winning 5-1 to go back within 6 points of league leaders Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta’s men came into this game knowing anything less than a win would deal a hammer blow to their chances of taking Liverpool all the way in the title race. Their opponents were the one-time formidable Manchester City, looking to get their season back on track.

However, the hosts struck first when Manuel Akanji was robbed of possession 25 yards from his own goal and Kai Havertz squared for Martin Odegaard to tap into an empty net.

Despite having only six touches at that point, Erling Haaland grabbed City’s equaliser right after the break, showing great composure to head home at the far post after Savinho’s fine cross.

Arsenal took the lead almost immediately. Phil Foden played a poor pass that was pounced upon by Thomas Partey, who saw his heavily deflected effort nestle into the corner.

The Gunners added a third through teenage sensation Myles Lewis-Skelly, who curled into the far corner. Ateta’s men added a fourth almost 15 minutes later when Havertz atoned for his earlier miss by curling into the far corner after a lightning-quick Gunners break.
