Chuba Akpom has completed a loan move to Ligue 1 side Lille, with the French club holding an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Akpom joins Lille from Ajax Amsterdam, where he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter despite his impressive goalscoring ratio.
The 29-year-old was outstanding at Championship side Middlesbrough before moving to the Eredivisie, but after 18 months, both parties believe an exit is the best solution.
The former Arsenal player had attracted interest from several English clubs, but Lille have won the race to sign him on a loan deal.
The move offers Akpom a fresh start and the exciting prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League this season.
