Fulham has announced the return of Brazilian winger, Willian on a contract extending until the end of the current Premier League season.
The 36-year-old re-joins the Cottagers as a free agent following his departure from Greek side Olympiacos in December 2024.
Willian’s initial tenure with Fulham began in the 2022-2023 season, during which he made a significant impact by scoring five goals and providing six assists in 27 Premier League appearances.
His contributions were instrumental in helping Fulham secure a mid-table finish that season. Following the conclusion of his contract, he extended his stay for the 2023-2024 campaign, further solidifying his role within the squad.
In August 2024, Willian opted for a new challenge by signing with Olympiacos. However, his stint in Greece was short-lived, culminating in his departure at the end of December 2024. As a free agent, Willian expressed a desire to return to familiar surroundings, leading to discussions with Fulham’s management.
Fulham confirmed Willian’s return through an official statement, highlighting the player’s experience and previous contributions to the club. The agreement is subject to international clearance, a standard procedure for transfers involving free agents.
Upon re-signing, Willian shared his enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a great opportunity again to play for this club, and I’m fully motivated to get on the pitch and do things well for this club.”
Willian’s return is anticipated to bolster Fulham’s attacking options as they navigate the remainder of the Premier League season. Known for his versatility, technical skill, and wealth of experience in English football, he is expected to provide both leadership and creativity on the field.
