Former Besiktas manager Sergen Yalcin has named Victor Osimhen as the Turkish Super Lig Player of the Season, praising the Nigerian striker’s remarkable contributions during his loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.
Osimhen, aged 26, has been pivotal in Galatasaray’s dominant 2024-25 season, securing both the Super Lig title and the domestic cup.
The forward has notched an impressive 36 goals and eight assists in 40 matches across all competitions, showcasing his clinical finishing and creative flair.
Speaking to Habersarikirmizi, Yalcin, the first to win the Super Lig as both a player and coach with Besiktas, said, “I think the player of the season is Osimhen.”
He added, “It is very difficult to choose players from other teams anyway. If we were to form an 11, you would get at least 6-7 players from Galatasaray.
“You wouldn’t just get a right back and a left back.”
Osimhen has had an outstanding season and has been linked with a move to several of Europe’s top clubs. The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and even Serie A giants Juventus remain keen.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Nigeria’s number 9.
