Galatasaray attacker Victor Osimhen has expressed joy after breaking a club record and winning the Turkish Cup on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old didn’t exactly net twice goals as Galatasaray defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 in the Turkish Cup final, but scored two goals in the match.

Osimhen’s brace means he has now scored 35 goals for the season, putting his name in Galatasaray’s history books. The Nigerian broke Galatasaray’s former player Mario Jardel’s long-standing record of 34 goals for the club.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen heaped praises on his teammates for their support. He also singled out Yunus Akgun for his contribution during the encounter.
“I think the record is, of course, a great thing, but I would like to thank my teammates very much.

Especially today, Yunus [Akgun] was very unifying,” Osimhen told Galatasaray’s website.
“Goals make me happy, of course, but I want to reciprocate the support my teammates have given me since I came here with goals.
I’m very happy to score goals, but it’s a separate pleasure for me to go down in the history of this great club,” he stated.
Galatasaray will now face Kayserispor in their next game on Sunday, looking to wrap up the league title.
