Newcastle survive Everton scare to secure last Champions League ticket

Despite losing on the final matchday to Everton ay home, Newcastle United will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Newcastle United needed a win to guarantee their spot in the competition next season but suffered a 1-0 home loss to Everton.

Carlos Alvarez’s second half goal secured the win for David Moyes’ man as they almost ruined Newcastle’s hope of playing in the competition next season.

The Argentine midfielder met Vitali Mykolenko’s cross with a precise header to give the visitors the lead.

Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen – on his final game as as a Manchester United player scored second half goals to wrap up the disappointing season.
