Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye swapped the football pitch for the Formula One paddock as he played a special role during qualifying for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The Udinese shot-stopper was invited to present the prestigious Pirelli Pole Position Award to Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli after the Italian produced a stunning lap to claim pole position.

Antonelli topped the qualifying session with a fastest lap of 1:28.111, securing his place at the front of the grid for Sunday’s race.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished second fastest, while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton completed the top three in qualifying.
