Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi scored his first Premier League goal of the 2026/27 season as Fulham secured a 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The Nigerian international netted in the 33rd minute to hand Álvaro Arbeloa his first league win since taking charge of the Cottagers, while helping the London club climb off the bottom of the Premier League table.
Iwobi broke the deadlock with a low finish into the bottom corner after Sander Berge pulled the ball back to him on the edge of the penalty area. His effort squirmed through the grasp of Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis at the near post to give Fulham the lead.
The hosts dominated large spells of the encounter, controlling possession and creating several opportunities to extend their advantage. However, they were unable to find a second goal despite their attacking pressure.
Hull, meanwhile, struggled to threaten Fulham’s goal and failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match.
Fulham’s task became slightly more complicated in stoppage time when Ryan Sessegnon was sent off for a foul. Despite being reduced to 10 men, the hosts held on to secure all three points.
The victory ends Fulham’s winless start to the campaign and provides some relief for Arbeloa, who had been under early pressure following his appointment.
Iwobi, who has remained a regular figure under the new manager, delivered the decisive moment to help his side secure a much-needed result.
Fulham will now turn their attention to their next Premier League fixture, an away encounter against Coventry City, as they look to build on Saturday’s victory.
