Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade is set to undergo surgery after suffering a fibula fracture during Nigeria’s 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of their Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifiers.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) confirmed the injury in a medical update ahead of their fixture against OL Lyonnes, revealing that the Nigerian international would undergo surgery performed by one of the club’s specialist surgeons before beginning rehabilitation with the medical team.
Ajibade sustained the injury on Tuesday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, following a collision with a Comoros player during the first half of the encounter.
The 27-year-old received treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off, with Folashade Ijamilusi coming on as her replacement.
The injury comes at a difficult time for Ajibade, who had been enjoying an impressive run of form for PSG before the international break.
The Super Falcons skipper scored in PSG’s 3-1 victory over Fleury in the Arkema Première Ligue, taking her tally to four goals across all competitions. The strike also marked her second consecutive appearance on the scoresheet.
Ajibade will now undergo surgery before commencing rehabilitation under PSG’s medical team. The club has not announced a timeline for her return to action.
Her absence would be a setback for both PSG and Nigeria, with the forward playing a key role for the French club and the Super Falcons.
