AC Milan joined in celebrating a milestone for Luka Modrić as the Croatian midfielder turned 40, surprising him with a chocolate cake and warm tributes in recognition of his enduring brilliance on the pitch.
The birthday honours came in the wake of a standout performance with Croatia, where Modrić played 82 minutes in a 4-0 win over Montenegro. He even provided an assist during the match.
According to reports, fans at Stadion Maksimir joined in, chanting his name around midnight, joined by his family — wife Vanja and daughters Ivano, Ema, and Sofia.

At AC Milan’s training facility (Milanello), staff and teammates are said to have presented Modrić with a chocolate cake, marking the moment with warm camaraderie.
The gesture underscores Modrić’s respected status at the club and his influence both for Milan and for Croatia. Having recently moved to Milan, he is now seen as a central figure in their midfield, with expectations for his leadership both on and off the pitch.
