Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, the D’Tigers, will know their quarter-finals opponent tonight after topping Group B of the ongoing Afrobasket Championship in Angola.

The D’Tigers beat Cameroon 99-90 on Sunday evening to record a 3-0 run in the group stage matches as they cruised to the last of the competition.

Nigeria had six players score double digits in arguably their best display of dominance in the group stage, even though they fell short in the final after leading Cameroon by a wide margin at the end of the third quarter.

Josh Okogie led the team in points as he scored 16, while five others also recorded double digits in the must-win match to decide who wins Group B.

Veteran Stan Okoye came off the bench and scored four of four three-point attempts as he continues to show his experience in coach Mohhamed Abdulrahman’s team.

Caleb Agada scored 15, Stan Okoye finished with 14, Christian Mekowulu and Ike Nwamu each contributed 12, and Martins Igbannu scored 10.

The D’Tigers are on course for a second Afrobasket title and will face the top seed, South Sudan or Senegal, in the last eight of the competition.

South Sudan will take on Senegal tonight in a qualification match after both teams failed to top their respective groups.

Nigeria last won the competition—their maiden title—in 2015, as they beat the host, Angola, on their home court.
