Alex Iwobi has charged Nigerian football fans to show positive e energy towards the team as they take on Rwanda on Saturday in a vital FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Fulham midfielder says the players are very optimistic ahead of the match against the Wasps but need the fans to by their side as well.

Iwobi shared his thoughts with the media crew of the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday in Uyo before the second training session:

My message would be to continue supporting us. As players we believe, so if you guys can believe in us as well and give us that energy that we need to go and get the result that we want… everyone’s feeling good and optimistic… we’re excited to play our first game against Rwanda.

Birmingham City defender, Bright Osayi-Samuwl says it’s probably one of Super Eagles toughest match but quite confident the team will get maximum points on Saturday:

Very important, possibly one of our most important games… We know how difficult it can be but I have full belief in our squad and our coach and I ultimately believe that we’ll go out there and [get the result].

Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina also acknowledged the tough task ahead but called on fans to keep supporting and believing in the team:

A message to Nigerians is that we know it’s a tough task ahead of us but we’re ready for the challenge… We’re going to try our best and we’re looking forward to it, so keep believing and supporting us.”

The iconic Godswill Akpabio International Stadium will host the crunch tie on Saturday, 6th August as the Super Eagles look to get to secure a win ahead of another must-wim tie against South Africa next week.
