Arsenal have increased their lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table from two to four points.
Manchester City failed to close the gap following Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday as Pep Guardiola’s men dropped points at Sunderland.
The Cats showed resilience, grit and determination as they stopped Manchester City from finding the back of the net for the first time in eight matches.
It was quite a cagey affair as the Stadium of Light as the home side stood resolute in defense and often attempting to catch City on the break.
Dutch midfielder, Tijjani Reijnders had the last opportunity towards goal as he fired a low left-footed strike which Robin Roefs safely gathered.
The draw against Manchester City is Sunderland’s first point against the former champions in the Premier League for the first time since 2014.
Meanwhile, Arsenal, courtesy of the win over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have 45 points while City continues the chase with four points behind.
