Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the first minute, but Fabian Schar’s equalizer left the game tied at halftime. Villa’s depth shone through after the break, with substitutes sparking a three-goal blitz in 11 minutes.
Ian Maatsen restored the lead with a well-worked move, Dan Burn’s own goal added breathing room, and Amadou Onana sealed the rout with a stunning curled strike.
The win extends Villa’s unbeaten home streak to 16 matches across all competitions, placing them sixth, just two points behind third-placed Newcastle with five games left.
Villa face a tough trip to fourth-placed Manchester City next, while Newcastle host relegation-bound Ipswich after a week’s rest.
