Serhou Guirassy almost ruined Barcelona’s quest to progress to the last four of the Champions League.
The Guinean striker bagged a hat trick as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Barcelona 3-1 in the return fixture at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
Barcelona came into the match with a comfortable 4-0 lead but the home team agonizingly missed out on a comeback.
Serhou Guirassy scored from the penalty after 11 eleven minutes to start Dortmund’s dream of turning the tie around.
Wojciech Szczesny kept the visitors in the game in the first half as he made two important saves to stop Maximilian Beier and Karim Adeyemi from increasing the lead.

However, Guirassy doubled the lead two minutes into the second half with a thumping header from a corner kick.
Unfortunately, Algerian defender Ramy Bensebaini gave Hansi Flick’s men a lifeline with an own goal shortly after.
Determined to stage a comeback with less than 15 minutes to the end of regular time, Guirassy struck again to restore the two-goal margin.
Unfortunately, the match ended 3-1 but 5-3 on aggregate as Barcelona returns to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2018/2019 season.
