In a tightly fought Baden derby, Freiburg and Hoffenheim played out a 1-1 draw.
Freiburg struck first when Lukas Kübler converted from a corner just three minutes in, but Fisnik Asllani levelled for the visitors in the 13th minute after intercepting a loose pass.

Elsewhere, Stuttgart came from behind to beat FC Köln 2-1. Köln had taken an early lead, but Ermedin Demirović scored from the spot before Josha Vagnoman sealed the turnaround late in the match.
At the same time, Union Berlin and Hamburger SV were unable to find a breakthrough, resulting in a goalless stalemate. Daniel Heuer Fernandes denied Union from the penalty spot, while Fabio Vieira was sent off late for a high challenge.
