Scottish Premier League champions Celtic have announced the signing of Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal.
Iheanacho joins Celtic following the mutual termination of his three-year contract with Sevilla as a free agent.
The former Leicester City forward spent the second half of last season with Middlesbrough in the English Championship after a challenging six months spell at Sevilla.
Celtic announced the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho in a statement on its social media pages on Tuesday night following days of negotiations on personal terms.
The Manchester City Academy product will sign a one-year deal with the club having the option to extend for a further year.
Iheanacho becomes Celtic’s 15th signing this season following the arrivals of Sebastian Tounekti, Nicolas Kühn, Marco Tillo, Greg Taylor, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Adam Idaho and nine others.
Kelechi Iheanacho reunites with his former Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers at Celtic as looks to get back to form following a difficult stint at Sevilla.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said:
“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate.
“I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team.”
