Matchday two of the UEFA Europa Conference League produced shocks across Europe, with AZ Alkmaar suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat at AEK Larnaca.

The Cypriots blew away their Dutch visitors with a ruthless display that leaves AZ under early pressure in the group.

Elsewhere, Shakhtar Donetsk edged a five-goal thriller at Aberdeen, running out 3-2 winners after a frantic second half in Scotland.

Slovenia’s Celje also grabbed headlines by upsetting AEK Athens 3-1 at home, while tournament favourites Fiorentina avoided drama with a controlled 2-0 victory over Sigma Olomouc.

In Poland, Samsunspor stunned Legia Warsaw 1-0, while Raków Czestochowa recorded a comfortable 2-0 win against Universitatea Craiova. Slovan Bratislava fell short in front of their own fans, losing 2-1 to Strasbourg, while Ireland’s Shelbourne held Häcken to a goalless draw.
