Popular nightlife entrepreneur and chairman of Club Xhrine and De Angels Bar & Grill, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, has announced his intention to invest in Nigerian football by acquiring a local club.
The celebrity businessman disclosed the development through a post on his Instagram story, revealing that he is on the verge of completing a deal to buy into a club in one of Nigeria’s domestic football divisions.
Although he did not specify whether the club will compete in the Nigeria Premier Football League, the Nigeria National League, or the Nigeria Nationwide League One, Cubana Chief Priest said his decision is driven by a desire to support young football talents and contribute to the growth of the country’s domestic game.
“I’m at the verge of buying into a football club in our Nigerian league. I’m doing this to support football talents and also uphold the glory of the Nigerian football league,” he wrote.
The businessman also expressed confidence that his future club would compete for major honours, insisting that success on the pitch would go hand in hand with creating opportunities for young players and building a lasting legacy.
“I promise you we will be winning the league because we never lose. Yes, we are going to make money, but we will make more memories and create amazing opportunities for the younger generation and, above all, leave a legacy.”
If the move is completed, Cubana Chief Priest will join a growing list of prominent Nigerian entrepreneurs investing in football, with his proposed project aimed at strengthening grassroots development while increasing attention on the country’s domestic leagues.
