Emmanuel Eboué Reveals Estrangement From Son Mathis After Chelsea Signing

Former Ivory Coast and Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboué has disclosed that he has not had any contact with his son, Mathis Eboué, since the youngster joined Chelsea.

In a video clip shared on social media, Eboué expressed both pride in his son’s achievement and sadness at their lack of connection.

“I feel very sad because when he signed for Chelsea I wasn’t there… I am very happy for him. I want to be closer to my son to help him,” Eboué said.

Mathis, regarded as a promising talent, recently signed with Chelsea’s youth setup, marking a significant step in his football career. His father’s comments have drawn attention to the personal challenges that can accompany professional milestones in sport.

Eboué, who played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2011 and represented Ivory Coast at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, made 132 Premier League appearances, scored 5  goalls and pproviided 16 assists emphasized his desire to rebuild ties with his son. The revelation has sparked discussion among fans about the pressures faced by football families and the importance of maintaining personal relationships alongside career success.
