Europa League: Cyriel Dessers leads Rangers to first leg success over Fenerbahce

Cyriel Dessers scored his 18th goal of the season in Rangers impressive win over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

The 30-year-old striker justified his Super Eagles Call-up with an impressive performance on the night.

The Turkish side suffered defeat to a Scottish team for the first in its history as the Gers recorded a 3-1 win away from home.

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers gave Rangers the lead in the seventh minute. The 30-year-old showed composure in the box and powered a low drive into the bottom corner.

Ghanaian defender equalized for Fenerbahce from.a sublime acrobatic effort on the half hour mark.

However, the visitors went ahead again as Vaclav Cerny buried the ball into the middle of goal from Cyriel Dessers pass.

Rangers went into the break with a 2-1 lead after an impressive first half display.

Cyriel Dessers increased the lead 13 minutes into the break with another incisive finish in the box. Unfortunately, his second goal was ruled for offside in build up to the goal.

While Fenerbahce struggled to equalize, Vaclav Cerny scored to give Rangers a 3-1 lead from a brilliant shot into the back of the net.

Unfortunately, VAR ruled out the goal for offside in build up to the goal.

Vaclav Cerny scored again with leas than 10 minutes to go from a brilliant solo run ro give Rangers a 3-1 lead to the dismay of the home fans and delight of the travelling ones.

Rangers head back to Glasgow with a goid advantage as they look to progress into the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
