The Falconets of Nigeria were handed defeat by Germany in their second group game of the 2024 FIFA U-20  Women’s World Cup.

In a thrilling Group B match at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Germany defeated Nigeria’s Falconets 3-1.

Flourish Sabastine’s late goal helped Nigeria defeat South Korea 1-0 in their previous campaign opener.

Forward Sehitler Alara gave Germany an early lead in the 17th minute by taking advantage of a Nigerian defensive blunder.

Despite having trouble in the first half, the Falconets persevered in the second half and equalized in the 50th minute thanks to a great team move by Okwuchukwu Chiamaka.

The Falconets of Nigeria were handed defeat by Germany in their second group game of the 2024 FIFA Women's World Cup.

But Zdebel Sofie’s brilliant finish in the 61st minute gave Germany the lead again, sending the Nigerian defense reeling and giving them a quick advantage.

Deep into stoppage time, Ernst scored Germany’s third goal to seal the match, dashing Nigeria’s hopes of pulling even.

They found it difficult to contain Germany’s dominating style, so they will now turn their attention to their vital final game.

With two victories, Germany currently has a perfect record in the group, while Nigeria will have a more difficult time getting to the Round of 16.

With two games played, Germany now leads the group with six points, while Nigeria is still in second position with three points.

To guarantee qualification to the knockout stages the Falconets must perform well in their last group game against Venezuela.
