Fermin Lopez, Rashford on fire as Barcelona steamroll Olympiacos

Marcus Rashford and Fermin Lopez were on rampage on Tuesday evening as Barcelona took apart Greek champions Olympiacos at the Estadi Olympic Luis Companys.

Spanish midfielder Fermin Lopez put the Catalan giant ahead in the seventh minute from a close range finish.

Fermin Lopez doubled the lead five minutes before the break as he curled the ball into the back of the net after he received a pass from Pedro Fernandez.

Barcelona went into the break with the 2-0 lead after a dominant display over the Greek side.

Konstantinos Tzolakis put up a brilliant save to stop Fermin Lopez from scoring a hat trick as stopped his header from landing inside the net three minutes after the restart.

Moroccan forward, Ayoub El Kaabi thought he had scored with a beautiful header but his goal was ruled out for offisde in the build up.

However, the Moroccan striker scored from the penalty spot in the 54th minute to half the deficit.

Lamine Yamal dashed the hope of Olympiacos stagging a comeback as he also converted from the spot to restore Barcelona’s two-goal cushion.

Manchester United loanee, Marcus Rashford got on the scoresheet after a receiving a through ball from Alejandro Balde.

Fermin Lopez sealed his hat trick with a one-time shot in the box to put Barcelona 5-1 lead in the 76th minute.

Marcus Rashford scored the last goal of the night three minutes later as Barcelona sealed a 6-1 to bounce back from the loss to reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

In other result on the night, Kairat Almaty plYwd out a goalless draw at home against Pafos. Despite having man advantage for more than 80 minutes, Almaty couldn’t break down the Cyprius side as the match ended in a stalemate.
