Ferran Torres has been named UEFA Champions League Player of the Week following a standout performance for Paris Saint-Germain on matchday one.
The Spanish forward was instrumental in PSG’s victory over Slovan Bratislava, scoring a decisive hat-trick as he repeatedly exposed the Slovak side’s defence with his movement and finishing.
Torres’ three-goal performance saw him edge Barcelona forward Raphinha to the weekly award. The Brazilian also enjoyed an impressive opening-night display, scoring twice in Barcelona’s dominant victory over Feyenoord.
While Raphinha’s brace placed him among the leading contenders for the individual honour, Torres’ hat-trick ultimately proved decisive as he claimed the Champions League Player of the Week award.
The recognition caps a memorable opening matchday for Torres, who made a significant impact as PSG began their European campaign in style.
