Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has congratulated the national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their historic victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament.

The team defeated Mali 78–64 in the final played in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, clinching their fifth consecutive title and extending a remarkable ten-year unbeaten run in the competition.

In a statement released shortly after the triumph, Mrs. Tinubu described the win as a proud moment for the country, praising the players for their resilience, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.

She acknowledged the significance of the achievement, noting that the team had brought home Nigeria’s second major sports trophy in just two weeks, a development she attributed to divine grace and national spirit.
