Fisayo Dele-Bashiru returns as Lazio drops points against Torino

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru returned to the pitch on Monday night after a brief period of injury that saw him miss the international break with the Super Eagles.

The midfielder came in as a second-half substitute but couldn’t affect the match as Torino held Lazio to a one-all draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio dominated the first half but couldn’t get a goal past Vanja Milenkovic-Savic who made a couple of saves.

However, Adam Marusic scored the opener three minutes before the hour mark with a sublime volley from the edge of the box.

Milenkovic-Savic pulled off another save to deny Lazio’s Mattia Zaccagni from doubling the lead as the visitors kept hanging on.

With about 10 minutes to the end of regular time, the visitors grabbed the equalizer courtesy of Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, who buried a left-footed strike into the middle of the goal.

The match ended with a goal apiece as Lazio’s chase for a continental ticket suffered a setback with 10 matches before the end of the season.

Lazio have 52 points from 30 matches – level on points with rival Roma who occupy the last spot for a chance to play on the continent next season.
