The Premier League has paid tribute to Nigeria’s lasting impact on English football with a special post celebrating the 60 Nigerian players who have featured in the league since its inception in 1992.

From the dazzling skills of Jay-Jay Okocha to the creativity of Alex Iwobi, Nigerian footballers have consistently brought flair, strength, and passion to the English game.

The post, which features a collage of notable stars over the map of Nigeria, recognizes icons such as Nwankwo Kanu, John Obi Mikel, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Peter Odemwingie, Joseph Yobo, and Obafemi Martins, among others.

Nigeria’s influence on the Premier League is undeniable — from Kanu’s title-winning seasons at Arsenal to Mikel’s decade of dominance with Chelsea and Yakubu’s prolific goal-scoring feats across several clubs. The new generation, including Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Taiwo Awoniyi, Odion Ighalo, and Tolu Arokodare, continues to uphold that proud legacy.
